Why I'm Riding:

God moved my heart for the Congolese people the first time I watched the video about the invisible children. Learning that sons were stolen from their families and forced into a rebel army was heart breaking. While I can't stop the injustice in the world, I can help change the lives of those affected by it. That's why I am so excited to join Restoring Hope Ministries on a bike tour from Bangor, ME to Easton, PA.

Restoring Hope Ministries has been providing the first pillar of their mission in Dungu of "restoring" through counseling the people of Dungu in the wake of the attacks from the LRA. The two other pillars are to train and sustain. Both pillars will come about through the purchase of a machine that will enable the people of Dungu to make bricks. The machine will be used to build a training facility where the people will learn to use their gifts to improve their own lives, and positively impact their communities. As the training facility is being built the people of Dungu will learn important trades that will allow them to use their skills and strengths that they can then use to continue to work and live independently. What an amazing opportunity.

How God Brought Me Here:

I can't get enough of God's creation and absolutely love that God can use me and my passions to make a difference for His kingdom. Riding on the tour has been something I've wanted to do for the last few years, but I've never really cycled and I don't own a bike. However, a hamstring injury I sustained last January forced me to find a running alternative and so I began attending cycling classes. I told Pastor Tim VanSumeren that I was interested in riding, but at the time the tour was full. I prayed about it. I told God I'd go if a spot opened and if He could provide a bike. A spot opened, and God said trust me. It's an adventure, it's a challenge, it's a journey of faith. Most importantly, however, I'm able to do something to make a real difference in the lives of the Congolese people.

Please join me in supporting real change. Let's support good in the world and make a difference. Help us provide jobs and durable bricks for Dungu!

Just a small donation will go a long way to helping me meet my goal for Restoring Hope Ministries.
